No. You do not need a GP referral to book an appointment with Happy Clinic. You can arrange a private psychiatric assessment directly through our online booking system.
Appointments are often available within a few days, depending on clinician availability and the type of assessment required.
All consultations are conducted by experienced UK Consultant Psychiatrists who are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a licence to practise.
All appointments at Happy Clinic are conducted through secure online video consultations. You can attend from anywhere in the UK using a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access. Video consultations allow your psychiatrist to assess your symptoms, discuss treatment options, provide diagnoses where appropriate, prescribe medication when clinically indicated, and arrange ongoing follow-up care where suitable.
We provide assessment and treatment for adults experiencing ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and a wide range of other mental health conditions.
Yes. Medication may be recommended and, where clinically appropriate, prescribed for ADHD and other mental health conditions following assessment. Prescribing decisions are based on your individual circumstances, clinical needs, and safety considerations. Treatment plans are tailored to your needs and may or may not include medication.
Yes. We provide Adult ADHD assessments conducted by Consultant Psychiatrists with experience in ADHD assessment and treatment. If ADHD is diagnosed, we can discuss treatment options, medication, titration, and shared-care arrangements where appropriate.

Yes. Happy Clinic uses a secure clinical management platform for appointment booking, medical records, patient communications, and video consultations. Personal information is handled in accordance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and professional confidentiality obligations. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to help protect the security and confidentiality of your information.
No. Happy Clinic is not an emergency, urgent care, or crisis service. If you require urgent mental health support, please contact NHS 111, your GP, your local mental health crisis team, or call 999 in an emergency.
With your consent, we will usually send a clinical summary to your GP following assessment or treatment to support continuity of care and safe prescribing. In some circumstances, prescribing or ongoing treatment may not be possible if communication with your GP is declined and your psychiatrist considers this necessary for safe care.
Where sufficient information is available, a diagnosis may be discussed during your initial assessment. Some patients may require additional information gathering, questionnaires, collateral information, or follow-up appointments before a diagnosis can be confirmed.
No. All diagnoses, treatment recommendations, prescribing decisions, and shared-care proposals are based on your individual clinical assessment and professional judgement. We cannot guarantee that a diagnosis will be made, that medication will be prescribed, or that a Shared Care Agreement will be accepted by your GP.
No. ADHD medication is only prescribed where it is clinically appropriate and safe to do so. Some patients may require further assessment, physical health checks, monitoring, or additional information before medication can be considered.
Where clinically appropriate, we can propose a Shared Care Agreement to your NHS GP following successful assessment and treatment stabilisation. Acceptance remains entirely at the discretion of your GP practice and local NHS policies.
If shared care is declined, we can usually continue private prescribing and follow-up care where clinically appropriate. Ongoing medication and consultation costs would remain your responsibility.
Repeat prescriptions are provided only where clinically appropriate and may require review appointments and monitoring before further prescriptions can be issued.
Some controlled medications, including ADHD stimulant medication, may be prescribed where clinically appropriate. Additional assessment, monitoring, identity verification, and prescribing safeguards apply.
Yes. Where possible, you may choose your preferred Consultant Psychiatrist when booking, subject to availability.
Yes. With your agreement, a family member, partner, carer, or support person may attend all or part of your consultation where clinically appropriate.
You will need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera, microphone, and stable internet connection. We recommend joining from a private, quiet location.
If a technical problem occurs during your appointment, we will make reasonable efforts to reconnect and continue the consultation where possible. Where a consultation is materially disrupted by circumstances within our control, we may offer a rebooked appointment or refund in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
Missed appointments and late cancellations may be subject to charges in accordance with our cancellation policy. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for details.
Yes. We provide Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments. Assessment availability may vary and additional information may be required before an assessment can be offered.
You do not need a GP referral to access our services. However, having a registered GP is strongly recommended and may be necessary for some treatment pathways and shared-care arrangements.
Consultations are not routinely audio or video recorded. If recording is proposed for any reason, your explicit consent will always be sought in advance.
We may use an AI-assisted clinical scribe to help create accurate consultation notes and clinical documentation. AI tools support your clinician but do not make decisions about your care.
Yes. You may request access to your personal information and medical records in accordance with UK data protection legislation.
Where clinically appropriate, we may provide clinical letters and reports relating to your assessment or treatment. Additional fees may apply for certain reports. We do not provide medico-legal, court, or expert witness reports.
Please contact us before booking if you are located outside the UK. Availability of assessments, prescribing, and follow-up care may be affected by local laws and regulations.
